Media Blog Post: Battlefield 6 Official Live Action Trailer
Battlefield is a military first-person shooter video game that largely focuses on large-scale, online multiplayer battles, and community-based events. With the first Battlefield (Battlefield 1942), being released almost over 23 years ago, we are now looking at the latest installment of the Battlefield franchise, Battlefield 6. Something that I have been waiting for a long time, since it's open-beta release a couple months earlier. Obviously with any new first-person shooter game, there has to be some kind of cool/badass commercial that hits homes all across the world. With that being said, I recently saw a new live-action promotion video by Battlefield's team titled Battlefield 6: Official Launch Live Action Trailer.
The advertisement first opens with popular actor Zach Efron, UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett, NBA Basketball Star Jimmy Butler, and country singer Morgan Wallen. They are seen dismounting out of a vehicle, wearing custom tactical gear, and weapons with exaggerated skins on them. It seems at this part of the promo that Battlefield is poking fun at Call of Duty because of their choice in implementing bad cosmetic skins such as Nicki Minaj, Nicholas Cage, and Seth Rogan. In the background we can also hear "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" by The Smashing Pumpkins. After we are introduced to our heroic characters, Zach Efron says "Kay boys, we're here to do one thing, and one thing-" before we see them get wasted by a missile. After the four had met their fate, we are then shown soldiers walking through and questioning what had happened prior to them arriving, with one saying "doesn't matter," and proceeds through the area. The rest of the advertisement shows cool and action-packed angles of soldiers exploding a tank, blowing an enemy up with a rocket-launcher, and aerial strikes occurring. The whole promo is 1:57 minutes long and was released on September 28th, 2025. An article that I found related to the promo and actually helped me develop this post, covered how Battlefield 6 mocked Call of Duty and how they created/developed this promo. Battlefield 6 Disses Call of Duty in New Ad.
The advertisement uses persuasive techniques such as the inclusion of multiple famous celebrities and humor to appeal to their audience through the beginning of the advertisement. I would say it incorporates association principle because in the video we can see soldiers doing things that players or consumers want to see in the game.
The advertisement brings a lot of new things such as not really using actual celebrities to carry out their promotion. It is through the actions of the unnamed soldiers we are introduced to, that we see the fun the game brings, and its realism that viewers want. The main target audience of this promo are mostly people looking into playing genuine military simulator games that include elements of realism, and people who are looking for something fresh to add to their preferred console. Adolescents, adults, and maybe even elders. When it comes to ethnic background and income, it doesn't seem there's any prevalence as even people in lower income communities still can have access to consoles, and games.
When it comes to the strengths and weaknesses this ad provides, I think the strengths outweigh the weaknesses. For example, I think including a live action promotion is a great way to show consumers that they really care about promotion of Battlefield 6 and appealing to their player-base. The promo includes essential elements first-person shooter ads must have when promoting their product as it is what grabs the attention of viewers. I can say a weakness of the ad is that I think they should've been more straightforward at poking fun at Call of Duty as I have grown to dislike their content they have been putting out as of lately. PlayStation Has Dropped Call Of Duty Advertising In Favour Of Rival Battlefield 6. The promotion is memorable based solely off the fact that they included realism, boots on the ground warfare, and visually pleasing angles in their promotion. They also excluded tacky and whack cosmetics that have been a problem in the gaming community.
Based off the advertisements, I would buy Battlefield 6, but probably when it's on sale. I have kind of lost interest in shooter games as they are pretty much the same, but this game can be different. I would most likely recommend it to friends as it's a co-op game that includes strategy.
From this project I learned that video-game advertisements are getting better and better. The video-game industry is something that I never realized would be a very large thing that almost everyone consumes. It goes to show that these games and companies are going to continue to thrive. What surprised me the most when I did more research on this ad is that the creators decided to poke fun at Call of Duty, which I haven't experienced in social media.
As Battlefield 6 is out right now, I hope it doesn't end up as its previous installment. Battlefield 2042.
